Tajpur is a quieter beach destination in Purba Medinipur, on the Bay of Bengal near Digha, Mandarmani, and Shankarpur. It is known as a calm coastal break with fishing activity, sea breeze, and red-crab sightings on the beach when conditions are suitable.
How to Reach
From Kolkata, travel by road toward Kolaghat, Nandakumar, Contai/Ramnagar and the Digha coastal belt. By train, use the Howrah-Digha line up to Contai/Ramnagar/Digha as convenient, then continue by local vehicle.
Food & Lodge
Seafood, Bengali meals, tea, and snacks are commonly available in the coastal belt. Tajpur has smaller stay options than Digha and Mandarmani, so confirm rooms in advance or use nearby Digha, Mandarmani, or Shankarpur as a lodging base.
Best time to visit
October to March is the most pleasant time for beach walks and sightseeing. Avoid rough-sea periods, heavy rain, and cyclone warnings; check local beach safety guidance before entering the water.
